This Hydrangea Family Session in Dallas GA unfolded on one of those rare late-summer evenings that feel painted into existence. The air was calm, the light was golden, and the gardens of The McGarity House glowed with a soft warmth that seemed to slow everything down.

A Family Story Nearly a Decade in the Making

I have photographed this family for nearly a decade. Each year, their connection deepens. As a result, every session feels more personal and relaxed. There is an ease to them now that comes with time. However, the children, who once raced through the gardens, now share laughter and gentle teasing. The parents seem to savor every stage, fully present in the moment.

The Setting: McGarity House in Bloom

The hydrangeas had turned the perfect shade of antique cream. They created a backdrop that felt like something from a Southern storybook. The wooden gate, aged and rich in tone, stood behind them as they moved naturally through the garden. Their wardrobe, simple cotton and linen pieces reminiscent of Tuckernuck, mirrored the setting perfectly: refined, understated, and timeless.

Every texture told part of the story – linen against petal, petal against sky – creating portraits that feel both classic and intimate. This is why I return to McGarity House year after year. The grounds offer quiet luxury and soft natural light, allowing each session to unfold with grace and authenticity.
