There are some sessions that feel tender before the first photograph is ever taken. If you’re looking to book maternity photography, please tap here to view the maternity information.

Adara and Grayson’s maternity session at Fairfield Plantation in Villa Rica, Georgia was one of those. They are expecting their first baby boy this July, and there was something so sweet about photographing them in this quiet in-between season. The days before everything changes. The weeks before they become parents. The last stretch of waiting, wondering, praying, preparing.

I have known both of them for much of their lives through church and deep family friendships, which made this session feel especially meaningful. It was not just another maternity session. It was the privilege of watching a new chapter begin for two people I have seen grow up, love each other, and now prepare to welcome their son.

Fairfield Plantation gave us the softest summer setting: open green space, wildflowers scattered through the field, tall grass, quiet trees, and that gentle West Georgia feeling that makes an evening feel slower than it really is. Adara wore the prettiest blue dress, which looked beautiful against the yellow and white flowers, and the whole session had a calm, romantic softness to it.

We kept the posing natural and connected. Some moments were quiet and close, some were full of laughter, and some were simply the two of them standing together in the field, holding hands, waiting for their baby boy.

That is what I love most about maternity photography. It does not have to be overly posed or dramatic to be beautiful. The beauty is already there. It is in the way a mother rests her hand on her belly without thinking. The way a father looks at her when she is looking away. The way a couple stands together on the edge of a life they have not met yet, but already love completely.

A Soft Wildflower Maternity Session at Fairfield Plantation

Fairfield Plantation in Villa Rica is such a lovely location for maternity photos because it offers space, softness, and a natural Southern backdrop without feeling too formal. The wildflower field gave this session a romantic, organic feeling, while the open landscape allowed the images to breathe.

For Adara and Grayson, that setting felt just right. Nothing stiff. Nothing overly styled. Just a quiet summer evening, a field full of flowers, and the anticipation of meeting their first baby.

These are the kinds of maternity images that feel heirloom without feeling distant. They are polished, but still personal. Romantic, but still real.

When Should You Schedule Maternity Photos?

For most expecting mothers, the best time to schedule maternity photos is between 28 and 34 weeks. That window usually allows the baby bump to photograph beautifully while still giving mom enough comfort and flexibility during the session.

That said, every pregnancy is different. Some mothers prefer earlier if they are carrying more noticeably or want to avoid the heat of late summer. Others schedule closer to their due date if they feel well and want to document those final weeks before baby arrives.

For summer maternity sessions in Villa Rica, Dallas, and the Metro Atlanta area, I usually recommend planning ahead so we can choose the best light, location, and wardrobe for the season. Soft dresses, natural colors, and meaningful locations photograph beautifully, especially in open fields, gardens, or quiet outdoor spaces.

Maternity and Newborn Photography in West Georgia

One of the sweetest parts of maternity photography is knowing that these images are often only the beginning of the story. The maternity session holds the waiting. The newborn session holds the arrival.

For families expecting a baby, especially a first baby, photographing both seasons creates such a meaningful record of this chapter. The before and after. The anticipation and the meeting. The quiet promise and the tiny details.

Adara and Grayson are stepping into such a sacred season, and I am so grateful they trusted me to photograph this part of it.

Their baby boy is already deeply loved, and this July is going to change everything in the most beautiful way.

If you are expecting and want this season photographed with warmth, softness, and intention, I would love to begin planning your maternity or newborn session with you. Click here for maternity photography information.
